Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has called on Iran to adopt a more diplomatic tone after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian delivered a critical speech at the United Nations General Assembly. Tajani characterized Pezeshkian’s address as “very hard,” following the Iranian leader’s denouncement of the United States and declaration that Tehran would not yield to external pressure.
Speaking after the UN meeting, Tajani emphasized Italy’s support for diplomatic efforts to resolve ongoing tensions involving Iran. He urged Tehran to reconsider its aggressive rhetoric and to step back from its pursuit of nuclear weapons, which remains a contentious issue on the international stage.
The Italian foreign minister suggested that reducing confrontational postures could enable Iran to better defend its interests while maintaining open lines of communication with the global community. Tajani believes that a shift in Iran’s approach could facilitate more constructive dialogue and potentially lead to a peaceful resolution of existing conflicts.
