Oman is set to host its inaugural World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting on September 5, a significant step forward for the nation’s athletics scene. The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, Muscat, will serve as the venue for the first-ever Oman Athletics Grand Prix, bringing together approximately 300 athletes from about 40 countries spanning Asia, Africa, and Europe.
This pioneering event will showcase a diverse array of track-and-field competitions, offering participants the chance to earn valuable World Athletics ranking points. For local Omani athletes, this represents a unique opportunity to measure themselves against international counterparts and gain experience on a larger stage.
The Oman Athletics Association is keen on making the Grand Prix a recurring fixture, with ambitions to establish Muscat as a staple on the international athletics circuit.
