Oman and Pakistan have signed a visa exemption agreement alongside four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including technology and telecommunications. These agreements were inked during an official visit by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi to Islamabad, where he met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The visa exemption agreement specifically targets holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports, facilitating smoother travel for officials between the two nations. The MoUs, on the other hand, focus on strengthening ties in telecommunications and information technology, radio and television broadcasting, the exchange of news and information, and collaboration between Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority and Pakistan’s National Archives.
During the visit, both countries also signed the minutes of the eighth session of their Joint Ministerial Committee. This act reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral relations and developing partnerships across key sectors of mutual interest. The agreements aim to enhance institutional ties, improve coordination between government agencies, and facilitate the exchange of technical expertise and information.
Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi signed the agreements on behalf of Oman, while Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan. The signing ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad, underscoring the importance both nations place on these initiatives.
The latest agreements represent a significant step towards strengthening Oman-Pakistan relations, focusing on areas that are crucial for the development and cooperation of both countries. They highlight a shared commitment to working together in fields that promise mutual benefits and enhanced connectivity.
