Oman and India have pledged to deepen their strategic alliance, with a particular focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, logistics, and emerging technologies. This commitment was underscored during high-level discussions held in Muscat on Friday, where Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, met with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar.
The pair engaged in a comprehensive review of the enduring relationship between their two nations, deliberating on ways to bolster bilateral cooperation further. They highlighted the need to foster stronger business collaborations, attract high-quality investments, and unlock new economic opportunities that would serve the interests of both countries.
In addition to economic matters, the discussions also delved into regional and international issues, particularly focusing on the critical aspect of maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Both ministers acknowledged the potential threats posed by regional tensions on global trade, energy supply chains, and international commerce.
Oman and India reiterated the necessity for ongoing coordination and diplomatic dialogue to promote regional stability. They emphasized the importance of reducing tensions through adherence to international law and ensuring the safety of key international shipping lanes. By advocating for dialogue among all parties, the two nations aim to minimize conflicts and support a stable global trading environment.
