Oman’s commitment to advancing sustainable transport has been furthered with the conclusion of the third edition of a specialized youth training programme focused on electric vehicle technologies. The “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) initiative, which ran from July 19 to August 27, welcomed 35 young participants from various universities and colleges across the nation. The programme aimed to equip these students with in-depth knowledge and skills related to electric vehicle systems, including charging infrastructure, network planning, and vehicle maintenance and operations.
Throughout the training, participants explored the economic advantages of electric vehicles, such as their potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The curriculum also addressed the environmental challenges associated with transport and emphasized sustainability principles. Importantly, the programme aligned its teachings with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, providing a comprehensive framework for understanding the global and local impacts of sustainable transportation solutions.
Workshops conducted during the training were designed to not only educate but also engage the participants in practical activities. These activities encouraged the development of innovative solutions tailored to meet local environmental needs, which is crucial for fostering a new generation of environmentally conscious professionals in Oman.
