Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman commenced a two-day state visit to Botswana, marking a significant effort to bolster bilateral relations between the two nations. The Sultan was received with full honors by Botswana President Duma Gideon Boko upon his arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone.
The welcoming ceremony featured a 21-gun salute as Sultan Haitham inspected a guard of honor. This ceremonial reception set the stage for discussions aimed at enhancing diplomatic ties, with the Sultan accompanied by senior officials from Oman.
In a gesture reflecting Botswana’s rich cultural heritage, a traditional Botswanan performance was presented to welcome the Sultan. The event underscored the importance of cultural exchange in diplomatic relations.
Following the ceremony, Sultan Haitham and President Boko proceeded to the Presidency Headquarters, where they were expected to engage in talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Oman and Botswana.
